Marathon Training

26.2 miles deserves
a smarter coach.

The marathon demands more than any generic plan can give. Signal reads your recovery data every day and coaches you toward your PR — or your first finish — based on what your body is actually doing.

Every mile of your build, covered.

Long-run readiness, every week

Marathon training lives and dies on the long run. Signal checks your cumulative fatigue and recovery each Saturday morning and tells you whether to execute the plan, dial it back, or hold. No guessing on the most important workout of the week.

Overtraining caught before it becomes injury

Marathoners are uniquely prone to overtraining. Signal tracks your HRV trends, sleep debt, and training load — flagging the warning signs that most runners miss until it's too late. Your fitness only counts if you make it to the start line.

Taper week, handled

Taper anxiety is real. When your mileage drops and you feel sluggish, Signal explains what's happening in your body. It reads your recovery metrics during taper and tells you what the data actually says — not what the fear says.

Boston qualifier projections

Ask Signal 'can I BQ at Chicago?' and get a data-backed answer. It runs your recent paces, heart rate efficiency, and weeks of training through the same framework coaches use — and tells you exactly what's missing if you're not there yet.

Common questions.

How does Signal handle 18-week marathon blocks?

Signal counts backward from your race date and builds your training arc in real-time. It tracks which phase you're in — base, build, peak, taper — and adjusts daily recommendations based on where you are in the cycle and what your body is showing.

Can Signal replace my running coach?

For most recreational marathon runners, yes — Signal gives you daily readiness data, race projections, and on-demand coaching that most hired coaches don't offer. If you have a coach, Signal works as a data layer on top of their programming.

What about nutrition and fueling for the marathon?

Signal's Log tab lets you track nutrition, alcohol, and sleep quality so your coach has the full picture. Fueling questions (race nutrition strategy, carb loading) are something you can ask the AI Coach directly — it factors in your training load and race distance.

I've DNF'd before. Will Signal help me stay healthy?

That's exactly what Signal is built for. Most DNFs trace back to decisions made weeks earlier — too many hard days, not enough recovery. Signal catches those patterns early. You'll see the warning signs in your data before your body forces you to stop.
